Payment for Prescriptions and Services
We are now able to accept card payments at the dispensary to pay for prescriptions and other chargeable services.
As of the evening of 15/05/17 we are still without access to our computer system meaning that we cannot access our appointment system, process any prescriptions, access results or hospital letters or even access our own electronic record system. We would ask that patients are sympathetic to our staff during this time as the circumstances are beyond our control. If you are unwell we will of course endeavour to see you and to ensure that any emergency medications are available to you from our pharmacy or another. If you are running short of your regular medication and cannot wait, any NHS pharmacy should be able to issue you with an emergency supply but they will need to see either your medication in its original labelled packaging or your white repeats slip. If you have booked for an appointment that requires us to have access to your previous records or results it may be wise to cancel and rebook once we are up and running again.
Update: 17/05/17: We now have some access to our core system so are in a better position than we were but remain limited in that we have not received any recent blood results and have not been able to access any hospital letters or imaging reports. We will therefore continue to run an emergency service where we do not wish to see any routine reviews such as medication reviews or chronic disease reviews. If your need is urgent i.e. you are feeling currently unwell or you are at risk of running out of critical medication over the next few days please contact the practice for further advice. If your medication is available over the counter and you are able to purchase stocks we would appreciate this as this is becoming CCG policy in any case. We are currently working our way through the backlog of prescription orders but have not been able to send orders to the wholesalers to obtain stocks of medication so further delays are to be expected in some cases although we are trying our best to catch up. If you have ordered your prescription by email we are not yet able to access your request and we would ask that you resubmit your request in writing. We would expect the phones to be busy so please avoid phoning for prescription queries. Orders submitted via SystmOnline have been received and are being processed in the queue.
Update 19/05/17: Our main computer system is now back up along with most of our important systems. We have worked hard to clear the backlog of prescription requests and we are now operating nearly normally. Some of the blood results are still to arrive from King's Mill's system although this seems to be correcting itself. The worst seems to be over. We are hoping that next week will be just about service as usual.
Gluten Free Foods no longer available on Prescription
Following Consultations across the Clinical Commissioning Group who fund the surgery and prescriptions that we generate, the policy on prescription of gluten free foods has changed and from 1/4/2017 we are no longer able to provide ANY gluten free foods on prescription except in exceptional circumstances. CCG Gluten Free Policy Statement
NEW: Text message appointment reminders. If you would like to receive reminders for your appointments, please contact the surgery.
We have started to send text messages to patients for health promotion and appointment confirmation reminders.
Please ensure that the surgery has your correct mobile telephone number
Appointment reminders by text are an additional service and these may not take place on all occasions, the responsibility of attending appointments or cancelling them still rests with the patient.
The surgery does not offer a reply facility to enable patients to respond to texts directly.
Text messages are generated using a secure facility. However please understand that they are transmitted over a public network onto a personal telephone and as such may not be secure. However, the practice will not transmit any information which would enable an individual patient to be identified.
Owing to the near universal popularity of this service we make the assumption that having given us your phone number we may make calls or texts to it but if you have particular needs please let us know.
Ask at reception to sign up for SystmOnline to enable you to order your repeat prescriptions online or book / cancel an appointment with a GP
NEW: Book your doctors or Telephone Advice Appointment On-Line
We now have a some GP appointments and telephone advice appointments available to book online.
To use this function you will need to pop in to our reception with some form of identification, you will then be issued a username and password. You will not be able to bring in identification on behalf of another person.
For any patients already signed up for SystmOnline to order their prescriptions you will now automatically be able to book or cancel your doctor's appointment.
Please note this function is not available for booking nurse appointments at present as the necessary time varies upon your needs.
